About Joshua Correa

Josh Correa is a professional golfer from Northern California who began playing alongside his father when he was eleven years old. He practiced on his family’s property where on occasion a golf ball can still be found. He was twelve before he had his first formal lesson at Twelve Bridges Golf Club (now Catta Verdera Country Club). He had 11 wins as a Junior on the JGANC (Junior Golf Association of Northern California). By the time he entered high school Josh had developed his game to a level enabling him to letter varsity all four years with a great team who went undefeated for two years. He played in several AJGA events and went on to win 6 NCGA events before being accepted to Hawaii Pacific University.

Josh has played on many different Tours since turning professional in 2000 when he qualified for the Asian Tour. He decided not to travel abroad and stayed in the states to play on several satellite Tours. The following years Josh played in tournaments on the Tear Drop Tour where he won his first professional tournament shooting 69-67-61-72. Josh has also played on the Hooters Tour, the Buy.com Tour (now known as the Korn Ferry Tour) earlier in his career followed by the Gateway Tour, SPGT Tour, GST Tour, and had competed in many Monday PGA Qualifiers and two U.S. Open Qualifier Events unfortunately playing injured at the time with a hand injury in which he recently had two surgeries in February and June of 2022.

Josh took a few years away from the game. Although separated from competitive events, Josh continued to improve his game and develop a cadre of support beyond his family and friends. He has secured private sponsorship that will enable him to pursue an active calendar of tournaments over the coming years. Additionally, Josh is now geared by Under Armour and Callaway. Josh is methodical about his game and believes the strongest aspect of his golf game is his short game.  He possesses uncanny accuracy around the greens and from 100 yards and in, usually gets up-and-down making par or better. Josh is naturally left-handed and plays the game right-handed except for his putting.  He putts left-handed as he strongly believes that to be the anchor of his game and has been complimented repetitively throughout his golfing career on his putting by many accomplished players and PGA Instructors.

Josh trains with PGA Instructor Shawn Kelly at his home course, The Ridge, in Auburn, California. Josh has a very good work ethic and applies the 3 D’s motto, “Dedication, Determination & Desire” to his daily practices both on and off the links. Together, Josh and Shawn have outlined a multi-year plan to optimize Josh’s chances of fulfilling his goal of playing on the PGA TOUR Champions. That allows Josh roughly seven years to fine-tune his game playing tournaments on the APT Tour, Asher Tour/GST Tour, Outlaw Tour, Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying, Monday PGA Tour Qualifiers and U.S. Open Qualifiers. Thank you for following Josh on his come-back trail. Visit his website often for updates. Your support means the world to him!
